I have just had an upsetting text from Linda telling me Max passed away a few hours ago She has asked me to let you all know and to thank everyone for the kind words you have all sent to her and max
She is absolutely devastated and still in shock but im sure as soon as she feels up to it she will be back on the forum My thoughts are with Linda as im sure everyones are at this very sad time :love: :love: :love: :love: Max had a long and happy life with a loving family

Right now I can't focus, been up all night, spending most of it in the bathroom being physically sick. I need to arrange cremation and can't pick up the phone or get the words out. I wasn't here when he passed away, and that hurts so much because I was certain I'd be with him. Spent all morning holding him and telling him how sorry I am.

Was saying just the other day how I wasn't sure when, how, or if I'd have the strength to make the decision to have him put to sleep. Well, I guess he took that responsibility from my shoulders.

Right now I just don't want to let him go. Just want to sit here and rock him in my arms forever.......

Hun, you do whatever you need to, if you need to wait a bit, do so, if you need to cry and cry do so, if you want to just post on here and talk about Max and how you feel, we are here :love: you are grieving for him, it's natural and we will help if we can, you shared such a lovely life and bond together, it won't be easy, :love: you will need time, I still cry if I see pictures of my old girl or if I dwell on her thoughts too long

I phoned the pet crematorium and had a chat. Don't want to take him today though, I'm really not ready. Gonna talk more with them when I get there, and decide what to do. They said I should put his body outside until tomorrow but it's so cold out there....

I wanna wake him and let him feel me hug and stroke him one more time. I wanna tell him I'm sorry for the times I missed his walk because I was too busy, or too tired. I wanna tell him I'm so so sorry for not being there for him at the end.

I just want 5 more minutes to love and talk to him one last time.. just 5 minutes!

You need to find something that works for you, when we lost Keiko i spent 2 days just crying, then i started to look at pictures, and cry some more, I talked about him a lot, i was pissed at the vets here, i was pissed at myself because i listened to the vets and i couldn't stand other dogs for a long time, watching another dog just made me cry again. I didn't want to go to his grave, because i blamed myself for his death, but my MIL forced me to go one day, and i sat there for hours just talking to him, i felt at peace and talked about all the funny things he did. it felt like he was there to comfort me.
it's almost 2 years since he died and it still hurts thinking about it, but i try to remember all the fun things he did.

My youngest son still won't look at pictures of Keiko, and he don't want to talk about him because it makes him sad. My oldest talks about Keiko and love to look at pictures. Everyone got different ways to deal with the death of a beloved dog, nothing is right or wrong. You just need to do what is best for you. :love:
