ive been reading a few threads on ped data... and i came across one about raw feeding ..and someone was asking what supplements should they be feeding their gsd to compliment the raw diet...

some are saying you dont need them, just feed different meats and organs and tripe 🤔 , other mention wild salmon ola and vitamin e

so now im wondering if fred should have some sort of supplements...

hes fed mainly chicken carcusses, neck and wings... he also had heart, tripe and beef ....

heres a post that made me gasp lol....

''There's a whole lot of mythology about what wolves and other wild carnivores eat.

Dogs in the wild would ingest very little in the way of grain. For one thing, in the wild, seeds only happen for a brief time of the year, not all year round, and wild seeds are NOT grown the way modern grains are, meaning in great density. Seeds would be an incredibly rare part of the diet. In addition, wolves are now understood to shake the sh!t out of the intestines before they eat them. My own dogs, if given a whole recently live chicken, refuse to eat the gullet. It's the only thing I find left besides the toughest of the feathers.

One of my bitches killed a Boer goat once upon a time, unfortunately (twice actually). She never even LOOKED at the guts. She ate its neck before she gave up. They prefer the muscle meat.

That said, the coyotes in my yard used to hog out on figs!''

There are different "raw feeding" diets Shelley.

Some involve raw meat and veg, some just the meat and bones, others have supplements etc etc

Raw and BARF are two different things, for example.

I used to feed raw, but it was really a mix of barf and raw, I never stuck to just one :nhy:

I feed dry now for a variety of reasons but I would prefer to feed raw as I used to raw feeding and supplements 729386

Sometimes they call it biologically appropriate raw food or something too, dont think thats quite right but its means the same thing raw feeding and supplements 729386

I used to feed a mix of meat/fish/organs/bones/veg/fruit and they also had our leftovers.

I tend to follow the "dont try to get everything in one meal, balance the nutrition over the week" and Mimi did really well on it. It doesnt suit Maggie though.

I often fed rice and pasta too but the bulk of their diet was meat and bones.
