My New Dog Mickey

Well we have gone and done it :2879: Today we picked up our new dog Mickey He is from Mascani and he is 9 months old and a real live wire

We did think long and hard about whether or not to have him and decided we definately do want a second dog Im a great believer in fate and as fate had it Mickey was destined to come to us I rang Mo about him and she told me another couple were viewing him the next day but if it didnt work out she would let me know They went and saw him took their other dog and kids and were all set to have him They arranged to pick him up last Sunday at 12 Well they turned up at 8.30pm and Mo wasnt very pleased with the way they said he was just going home and to bed straight away so she told them no way were they taking him She then emailed me we went over with Keira earlier in the week and picked him up this morning

Keira seems to love him and they have been playing all afternoon They are both shattered now Mickey is in his crate in the middle of the front room snoring and Keira on her sofa in the conservatory :2445: OH is on the sofa snoring aswell We are all knackered Its been a hectic day The only down side is Mojo freaked and spat at him then ran and hid He started barking at her and if im honest i dont think he seemed very keen on her He was in his crate We will have to take it very slowly with their introduction i think and muzzle him when he finally meets her out of the crate Fingers crossed this will be ok He is very lively and we have our work cut out with him Apparently the previous owners were not giving him enough exercise the man worked all the time and the woman would just crate him most of the day because she couldnt handle him He is a very friendly dog and has already met my mums dog thru the gate when we took him for a walk earlier :2812: He doesnt sem to know the word NO or LEAVE IT yet so we will be teaching him these pronto His obediance is very good tho he can do his sit stay down This is because Zep has been working with him for the few weeks they have had him

We did speak to Zep and asked his advice on whether he thought we would be ok with him We will be taking him weekly to Zep for training for a while Keira is invited too We had a group training session today He runs the training on a Tuesday night or Saturday morning so we will make it to one or the other
I trained Keira and Mark had Mickey They both did really well

I think its made her a little more assertive She has been telling him off a few times He keeps nipping her on the legs She doesnt seem jealous of him which surprised me but she has been a cow about her sofa She wont let him sit on it When he tried to get on she sprawled on it and chased him off He got on it once but he had about a foot of space and was all cramped up so he gave up

lol @ the sofa, Mimi is the same, she "allows" Maggie on but she wont let Stan on, she a cow :2445: We have to intervene and remind her who makes the rules But she accepts it. She just likes to have her place clearly set and shes happy

Ive just emailed Mo at Mascani to let her know how his first day has been

Mo did say Keira would probably try to boss him about and she was right She is just putting him in his place Im so glad she doesnt seem to be jealous at all and has been a really good girl

Yes im shocked Keira seems to love him already I thought she would but was expecting some jealousy to start with but she has been fine

When he kept going outside she had to keep following checking up on him like an older sister :san42:

He stinks tho so could do with a bath He has been in the kennels with all the other dogs Looks like he isnt keen on being groomed so will have to take that slowly

I thought he looked like Marley He is from the same kennel as Fred but not sure if he is related will have to read his papers His dad is lovely we have seen him at Mascani in fact Mo was telling me Keira actually took a shine to him when she was there for residential training in December :2286:

Karen says he looks like Bailey when he was younger so may go a bit lighter as he gets older

awww bren, im soooo jealous .... hes absolutely gorgeous, and reminds me of fred slightly in the first picture... fingers crossed he settles in and gets on great with mojo... let me know how you go when you check out his family tree

Shelley Mickeys dad is Rustanville Erasmus and his mum is Mascani Niamh its his grandad who we saw at Mascani which is Terry von der furstenperle (Nemo) Is he any relation to Fred?

i dont recall any of those names in freds pedigree hun, i will have a look though bren .... i think ive posted fred pedigree on here somewhere atually lol

They are related somewhere down the line Did you put that info on the database or was it Mascani? How do you find your dog just type their name in?

i put it on the database hun.. if the dog is already registered on there, then you can type a name in and it should find it!!.
