Got up this morning to Rain but we had decided we were going to cross the Kessock bridge over to The black Isle and head up to Cromarty. We thought about holidaying over there next year and had viewed a couple of cottages online so it was an opportunity to look at the area. Cromarty was just over an hour from the cottage, once again Marley was great on the journey until we hit Inverness (we cant avoid it!!) He went ballistic until we got onto quieter roads and he settled down again
this is Cromarty
some oil things in the middle of the Cromarty Firth
The car ferry coming in from Nigg to Cromarty
Little harbour
Blowing a gale bloody freezing and raining cats n dogs!! I look like the michelin man lol
The sun same out for a little while
The Courthouse
We went for a little walk around the bay
Looking back towards Cromarty village
The weather got really bad again so we headed back into the car found the cottages we were thinking of and decided they werent for us, the black isle is ok but not as picturesque as the west coast
So we decided to Drive round the black isle and head towards Beauly, just happened to Pass the Muir Of Ord and decided to call in at the Glen Ord distillery. You can only buy their whiskey Singleton from the distillery so an obligatory bottle was bought! Well it would have been rude not to as we used their car park to eat our lunch and used their toilet facilities!!
Glen Ord Visitors Centre its a really lovely old building
Some views from the way back, showing the Kessock bridge that we drove over this morning
and our Bottle of Singleton

Craig is now officially jealous talisker and singleton in one trip The black isle reminds me of a kids story Katie Moray or something like that is how I pictured the village in the story. I'd love to live in a harbour village. Its looks like you stepped back in time with the old buildings very picturesque Glad your sharing pics its the highlight of my days at the mo xx

Ive already been looking for next year Sandra so far ive come across a cottage called the Linesmans cottage which is in the middle of nowhere but at the lineside of the west highland railway track where the harry potter steam train goes by twice a day and with my love of steam trains through my grandad i would just love it ( not sure of what marley and Kala would make of it though!!)
and also one right on a beach which was in the Film local Hero in the film it was converted to a church in the film the only downside with that is there isnt an enclosed garden but its early days i will be booked somewhere by the end of the month
We are looking around the Arisaig/Morar area for next year.............if we cant find anywhere I would be quite happy to come back here!
