I needs a little help please girlies ....

ive been to see my grandad today... its only been a few months since i last saw him and i was surprised to see how fast his health had declined ...

it was so sad to see him like that and one of the saddest things was him telling me that the one thing he had left to occupy his mind was his painting and he can no longer do that because he cant control his shaking ... so he pretty much has nothing to do but watch the telly

ive been googling books for him to read or audio tapes or whatever they are called now ...

i want to find him large print factual books with lots of pictures .... or even a book of just pictures such as sea scapes or hillsides and sunsets or maybe a book of pictures which comes with a cd that narrates

i dont know what to put into google to find such things ... anyone got any ideas

i want to send him something through the post a.s.a.p cos i wont be able to settle until i have, i cant get the image of him out of my head... i live too far away to help out with looking after him, at least if i can do this little something he will know im doing my bit

Its awful to watch a loved one get frail with age I hope you can find your grandad something hun

hes the only grandad ive ever known, my other grandad died when i was very young ..

he organised the towns firework display every year,and he was also the santa who used to come round at xmas on his sleigh bless him

Shelley..what sorta Audio Books do you want as we have lots of them, we have autobigraphies and also non-fiction if they are of any help.

Know how you feel about your grandad, it isnt nice seeing them get more and more poorly....I went through it with my grandad for 2 weeks, up until he passed away, it was awful seeing him deteriorate so quickly.

Does he have parkinsons? as you mentioned shaking...my grandad did too but it affected his legs as well so he kinda danced/shuffled when walking.

If the audio books are of use let me know, you may need to come up and look through them..they are all on cd btw

he doesnt have parkinsons, not that i have been told anyway ... he also loses his speech sometimes too ... its awful to see

autobigraphies we have dawn french, anne robinson, terry wogan, one of the attenboroughs (not sure which) dickie bird plus others as well

fiction we have terry pratchett, tolkien, stephen king, mary clark, andy mcnab plus many many more so if there is a certain author let me know and i will look.

how far away is he from you? you can only do so much unfortunately but know doubt whatever you can do he will love it, I was lucky as i knew both my grandads, one died in 2001 and my other in March this year I was close to both but moreso the latter as he and my nan helped my dad raise my brother and I

You cant look after him but trying to find something to keep his mind occupied is a lovely idea Im sure whatever you chose for him he will appreciate

Where are any paintings he has done? Could you put them onto something like a digi frame for him? You could also take other pics he may like on it, set it to slideshow?

this is the trouble ... he and my nan live 22 miles away ... so its not a quick bus ride over there maybe instead of borrowing one marie ... you could point me in the right direction of where i can get some from ... the attenborough one sounds interesting ... and maybe one about the peak district ... he would like that then i wouldnt have to worry about making sure you get them back

i have a digi frame he could have tbh ... i could fnd loads of scenic pictures on the internet ... save them and put them onto a memory stick and transfer them to an sd card

If you think he would like to have it You can put pics of the family on as well

hmmm they all ready have lots of pics about the place .... i reckon scenic pics of where theyve walked in the past over the hills etc would be nice for them ... they like that sort of thing
