| In this freezing cold I could see them hopping in and out of the chicken run this morning, trying to get odd bits and bobs I put food out for them but none have come to have any yet, have all the dogs shut inside with me not to scare them, wonder how long it will take for them to start taking it | |

| you have to be careful when giving birds bread as it isnt really good for them. however wholemeal bread is so far better for them than white and ideally needs to be crumbled up and moist, sometimes if i have fat left over i soak some bread in that, saves throwing it down the sink. We have lots of atora suet at the shop, it is out of date this month and we were not sure if we could sell as bird food but now it seems we can which is good....can you buy the net bags tho??? we did think about making fat balls up but think that it would be too timing consuming and messy lol. I always feed the birds, regardless of the season. Its nice to see them in the garden and also it gives them a regular supply of food all year and they keep coming back for more. The price of bird seed has gone up, however if anyone is a member of costco then it is cheaper to get a 12.75kg from there, its about £6 i think. i gotta go get some myself. heres a few ideas as to what foods you can feed the birds and its great to see that people are still thinking of them in this weather, good on ya :xmas: http://www.rspb.org.uk/news/264059-help-your-garden-birds-this-winter | |
