OMG!! my poor Girl....

...Tilly was attacked by a Mastiff tonight in the park

it was a horrid viscous un-provoked attack and I didn't know what to do it took me completely by surprise......

I saw the woman ahead of me with this huge dog on a lead I was walking on the path and she moved over with her dog to a grassy part, the dog was crouching behind a tree and I smiled and commented he was hiding from my dog..with that he dragged the woman across the grassy bit to the path, he was so strong he pulled her onto her back and she let go of him and he lunged straight for Tilly, she tried to fight him off but he put all his weight on top of her she was screaming her little head off, the woman grabbed the dogs tail and pulled and I kicked and kicked him eventually he let go of Tilly, I'm screaming at her that her dog should be muzzled, she said "I'm sorry he is unpredictable????" i'm swearing like a fecking docker at this point and yelling "if he's unpredictable he should be f**king muzzled yer stupid f**king cow you cant even control a dog that f**king size what the bleeding hell are you doing taking him out with no muzzle? and he's not been neutered are you f**king thick. if he attacks a smaller dog his jaws will kill it in seconds are you completely f**king stupid".
"she kept shouting sorry! is HE ok" to me as I walked out of the park but I ignored her and just turned and put 2 fingers up at her.

Tilly seemed ok but was limping so I rang the vet and luckily they were still there finishing off, he treated her for shock and gave me some pain killers for her leg he said she has bruising but it's not broken or anything. she seems ok and has eaten, but is constantly licking her leg. my poor baby

OMG KAREN!!!!!!! Poor Tilly and poor you I would have been beside meself, Hope Tilly is ok and isnt too traumatised

I felt bad for Tilly Judes, coz I was so shocked I couldn't help her
it was bedlam for about 3 minutes but it seemed like ages and ages. she's asleep now.
I was starting to let her off lead near big dogs too because she seemed to have mellowed a lot since she was spayed and she was only on the lead around small dogs coz she still don't like them. this is probably gonna set her back now hating big dogs again. 1 step forward and 6 back

Have you ever seen this dog before Cant believe a woman would walk a mastiff without a muzzle knowing it was unpredictable
Just think if it had been a child walking a smaller dog

Hope your both feeling better tomorrow and it doesnt set Tilly back too much with other dogs

get her back out with a big dog asap

Stupid cow,i would report the incident anyway just so theres a record of it as
it might and probably will happen again with that dog.I would also find out where she lives and smack her in the face with your vets bill.

I agree with Summer though the police need to build a profile on people with dogs like this . We've unfortunely witnessed people with aggressive dogs get away with stuff like this and the police av told us that if they dont know about it they cant do any thing about it. If it happens again to you and Tilly (God forbid) or someone else at least they are aware of it

Thanks everyone. Tilly is a bit stiff and feeling sorry for herself.
I am going to report it to the police Jan, your right she shouldn't get away with it and if I find out where she lives I will smack her in the mouth first and then give her the vet bill thanks again I will keep you all posted

Me and Melissa found them before I took her back to the vets
the vet today gave her an antibiotic injection and some tablets to take for the next 5 days.
the Police said there's not much we can do unless we can find out where she lives

Hope the injection makes her feel better

You ought to contact a local paper and do a story if you cant find out who this woman is Even if you cant find her bet someone will recognise the description you give Might just make her realise what an idiot she is taking an unpredictable dog out without a muzzle on

Dont beat yourself up about not finding the puncture wounds straight away its hard to see with long coats
You would think the vet would of spotted then tho

Maybe if you ask around your local area then someone may recognise her or if you see her again ask for her details or even ring the police while shes in close range of you or even follow at a safe distance

Thanks Bren I needed to hear that they would of been difficult to find
I think the reason the vet missed them was because they were just about to close when I walked in with her and too much in a hurry to get home anyway they are not going to charge me for the first visit. I have contacted 2 of the local free papers so
we make the letters page at least.

I am going to put posters up today warning people about this dog and owner
if I ever saw her I would follow her the police said they will keep an eye out for them as I gave a good descripton of both of them.

Jeez hun I am so sorry, how awful for both you and Tilly it's every owners worst nightmare, thank god you could manage to get to the vet before they closed for her to be treated for the shock.

Puncture wounds are very hard to find straight away Karen, it's much easier to find them a bit later, it's the way the skin reacts so I have been told so don't blame yourself at all

Jeez can't stop thinking of you in that position when it was happening, jsut wish we had all been there to help you both and stop Tilly getting hurt

So pleased you reported her, OK nothing may be done this time but it's been noted, who is to say that an elderly person with their cherished little old dog won't be next it's frightening

Though she prob won't be seen around those parts again ...she won't risk bumping into you again, bet she suspects you have reported her and will keep a low profile.

If she knows she cannot handle him what on earth is she doing the stupid fecker it can be such a horrible thing to deal with

I'm ok thanks Sange and Tilly is a bit more lively today. it was like one of those slow motion horror things that happens in nightmares. it's Scary thinking about what could of happened. and plus I never had me phone coz I'd lost it in the same park that afternoon
the police said she will probably go elsewhere to walk the dog or leave it until dark, but I will keep looking for her as long as I live.

Thanks Sue xxx Tilly has never been a dog lover herself but I was getting somewhere with her and letting her off lead near groups of big dogs and she was really good. she still hates little dogs tho but I would never put them in danger by not keeping her under control if we walked past one. I hope this hasn't set her back we shall have to wait and see when she is fit enough to go out.

bloomin heck hun, those wounds look sore you def cant blame your self for not seeing them though it would be almost impossible to spot them with tillys long coat

in know how infuriated you are feeling , i felt the same when me and fred were attacked by a staffie and the owner walked off and left us to it ...ive never seen her since, but im forever wary of any similar looking staffies... i wish i was as brave as you though and reported it to the police, i'll keep everything crossed you find the bitch
