| basically skyla is fat - shes 7 months old on the 1st july and weighs roughly around 27.7kgs which is equivilent to 4stone 5 lbs or 61lbs (for those that dont understand all these kg measurements) bear in mind i weighed her myself so it cud b slightly off - she doesnt get fed that much she gets a bowl ov tripe/beef in and a couple ov chicken wings a day ok so we did feed her a few scraps everynow n then but not so much that she cud get THAT fat and i know she shudnt but shes gettin 4 walks a day which are about 20mins long each time - cud she have a possible thyroid problem or is she just a fat dog - wanna get peoples opinions b4 i decide 2 take her 2 the vets for tests x | |

| didnt you mention a while ago that she likes to pinch the other dogs food .... i could be wrong lol :2431: how much tripe is in the bowl?, tripe is good for fattening a dog up, i was advised to use tripe when fred was underweight, it helped to feed him up... what are the scraps youre feeding her?...are they fatty? it all adds up hun, i doubt shes got thyroid problems, shes prob just a big dog.... but im no expert, so if it makes you feel better and reassures you, a trip to the vet could be a good idea | |

| It doesn't sound like thyroid issues but if you need to, get a test done. Sonic is hyperthyroid and has been since tiny, we took him on at 8 weeks as he was dumped at the vets at 5 weeks old by the breeder to be pts. The vets couldn't do it and hand reared him. Dwarfism leads to thyroid problems and other things, it's common for dwarfs to not make it past a year old, the fact we were on top of his thyroid issues early has made all the difference. Another common thyroid issue is coat, teeth, bone growth so if there are no other indicators like this I think you may be safe BUT it's only a quicky blood test if you are worried. What makes you think it's a thyroid issue if you don't mind me asking? Julie | |

| She looks ok to me, thyroid function more often than not effects coat and skin. She looks healthy to me. It's difficult to describe I guess when you have lived with a dog with thyroid issues but Sonic's coat is patchy, some puppy fluff (he's 2 yrs) and some longer adult coat popping through in patches. Sue may be able to describe it better after meeting him. Energy levels and behaviour are also affected with Sonic being called Turbo boy as he is always on the go and his aggression/reactivness also seems higher at times. Think you may well just have a pup that loves grub Good job too, thyroid function is a hell of a battle! Sonic has cost a small fortune to treat and get balanced on his thyroid replacement! | |

| Forget the thyroid then, I can tell you from experience with Sonic that you would be seeing more than you are. Coolio....just a big, chunky pup Give her a cuddle from me:) | |
