| I was just reading about working trials, one club said no dogs can do it until 18 months old because of the agility, I didnt know if that was a club rule or a competing rule. I would def be interested in this at some point too. This one isnt that far, its about 35 miles away, straight down a big clear road so wouldnt take long to get to. | |

| I do know many clubs won't take a dog under 18mths for agility, but many do 'start' agility earlier without the stuff that can damage a dogs development.
Do they do some agility in working trials then? | |

| I just did a quick search in google, one site said its a mixture of obedience, tracking and agility. Our GSD club does agility from 12 months but I didnt enjoy it at all. It was two hours long and we prob had about 10 mins of "work". the rest of the time we were sat about waiting. | |

| no they tend not to want the dogs to start the scale ect till they are fully grown but will allow pups to the training as you have the obedeicne and search work also and you can get them used to some agility stuff as pups with out any harm being donw it depends on the club i guess you have diff stakes your CD is the first (companion dog) the ud then it gets harder ect.. heres a link http://www.bordercollierescue.org/breed_advice/bcr_leaflets/WorkingTrials.html | |

| I have no experience of working trials but am going to take Sabre along. It's a 10 week introduction course with only 6 dogs in the class. I have discussed Sabre's hips/arthritis, and because this is just an intro and I'm not too interested in the competitive side of things, we will look at missing out or adjusting any agility parts if we need to. Sabre loves tracking/scent work so we're just doing it for fun. I know one of the other dogs is only 8months, so assume the trainer will adjust anything that needs to be becuase of the age of the dog. Will go get email contact and if anyone wants any more info they can email the lady organising it directly..... | |
