Kalas Training

Kala went back to Training this morning with the club being off for 4 weeks due to Xmas and bad weather. Kala has had virtually no lead walks either due to bad weather, its been straight in back of car, run along the beach and back so I was expecting a bit of a battle with her on our walk up to dog club as she hates being on lead!!
As expected she pulled at first as she gets so excited when going out but she wasnt too bad walking up to the club a few firm reminders but she did automatically do her Waits at the kerbs and road side.
Only 2 of us turned up to the silver class and Janet asked if we would like to have a go on the indoor agility course just for a bit of fun. Janet demonstrated with her dogs and gave us the commands to use. Kala took to it like a duck to water!! Janet was amazed at how quick Kala picked it up! We didnt do the higher hurdles but she went over the small jumps, did the weaving in and out the wide bars and the narrow ones, went through the tunnels and with a bit of encouragement did the see saw!! I think I am going to try and find a class for her she loved it!!
Then it was back outdoors for her training and she was great, her heelwork was good, then her return to handler with lots of right left and about turns were excellent, she did her 2 minute down stay not a problem then we did some off lead heelwork and she was really good at that too! I am so proud of her

So pleased for you Jude, she sounds a wonderful girl


Shame only 2 turned up, will there be more next week? You can go all the way with her she'll take it all in her stride

there were 8 dogs in her silver class. we went through bronze together and everyone signed up for Silver but there was only Kala from the original 8 and a new dog aggressive Rottie that turned up today

I'm hoping I can go all the way with her Sandra she loves it, I have started in the house putting her in a down stay in a room and going out of sight for a minute and she stays put which she will have to do for her gold ( 3 minute down stay with 30 seconds out of sight) Marley would never do that he would do the stay but not the out of sight bit.

I tried Keira with agility and she hated it which really surprised me as she is a real live wire

Mind you it was the day after we brought Mickey home so maybe she was feeling a bit off because of that If i had a garden big enough id love to get some agility equipment
