| today whilst out walking fred i noticed what looked like a dodgy man watching us on the racecourse.....
HOW WRONG I WAS....
he called me over, so i cautiously went over, he asked how old fred was, i told him he was 2, then his eyes filled up and he said he had just lost his 11yr old GSD called duke only 10 days ago... i was chatting to him for over half an hour, my eyes were filling up as he was talking about his lad he had lost...he was now waiting for the beech and brass casket containing his boy to come home so they could be together again...  ... he was drinking a can of lager, and he must of noticed me looking at it, because he said... i dont normally drink, please dont think im an alcoholic or anything, ive just come from my daughters house and i dont want to go back home to an empty house, so this will make it easier   .....
i really really felt for him, i could have listened to him talking about his dog all day.... he even told me about how he was going to wait until spring before he got a new GSD... and he knows what he wants it to look like and hes going to call it duke junior, dj for short... i really hope he gets his boy home soon and that he gets his new pup in the spring, he says he is missing the dog hairs in the house, and that although he has lots of family, duke was his only true friend
bless him   ... | |

| he also told me he was related to a june or jude cunningham, she died last year but apparantly was well known on the GSD circuit, she was into breeding and showing them and did a lot for local rescues  .... when i walked away from him, i turned back just before i rounded the corner and he was still stood there | |

| It was Shelley it took me ages to get it out of my mind, they called their dog Murphy I hate seeing Men cry and the guy was sobbing, the woman was upset but I think it was the guys dog. He just kept apologising and I didnt know what to say, Marley kept licking his face but then wanted to play with his ball so the guy threw it for him and we said our goodbyes then. | |

| youve got me in tears girls . Its horrid when you lose them and you still think of them. I still think of my Gemma and even though susie wasnt my girl she will always have a very special place in my heart, and i miss them both dearly. A woman stopped me about 2 weeks ago when I was out walking tess. We got talking, she told me that she lost her GSD last year and looked very much like tess. The woman said to me what a stunning girl she was and a credit to the breed which i thought was lovely of her to say. She was thinking of getting another but maybe next year. | |

| I know how you feel the memories of my Girl Waya who PTS 19/9/09 are still very strong it was so hard she was only 7 yrs I must tell you all then you can ignore me My Waya was another rescue who we had at 6 months old she was always hyped up like living on a tight rope scared of any loud noises. She came out for her walk on Thursday no problems running, playing with the boys Thursday night her breathing was'nt right so i said i will see what she's like in the morning, she seemed ok I took her and the boys out for there walk at 7.30 am Friday she was'nt running just walking by my side so it was only an hours walk, took her to the vets at 9am they kept her in for xray had a phone call at 2pm told all they can see is one big mass in her chest area, They referred her to a specialist we got there at 3.30pm after listening to her chest they took her straight to theater thats when i had to leave her again at 7.30 pm the phone call came her lungs had filled up with chyle fluid which they drained while she was asleep they did a scan and found she had a big whole in her heart and a tumor on the top of her heart wow i just went to pieces she was still under at that point so i had to leave her all night got there at 9.15 am Saturday and Waya was all excited jumping and talking wanting to come home with these 2 holes and tubes in her chest and i had to say NO you have got to go back to sleep never to wake again i stayed with her there was no way i was going to leave my girl again that was the 1st time i had ever left her over night. In 3 days she went from being a happy girl apart from having panus to PTS. I am so sorry for this thread but i really needed to tell people as freinds around here dont seem to understand dog lovers like us. | |

| Thanks I am still crying buckets here looking at my boys  Ted has grown one grey whisker since Waya has gone as she mothered him when i got him at 7 wks he really does miss her thank god i got Zeus when i did or Ted wouldnt be here either. It happened all so quick 3 days i still cant get my head around it. She only cost £50 from rescue but the vets bills came to over £2000. :san15: she was my little girl hopefully time will ease the pain she really just wanted to come home but i couldnt her lungs would have filled up again within 24 hrs that was the hardest PTS i have ever done as she didnt feel ill or any pain she felt healthy and full of life. I must stop i'm getting myself to upset and go and walk my boys. | |
