| i just know thats how it originated really
i think some ppl may find it easier to correct the dog on their left altho i dont have issues with either side and some ppl have stronger sides so i always say have the dog on that side.
doesnt matter if you dont work your dog which side you pick as long as you keep to it | |

| found this ...... Train Your Dog to Walk on a Lead Ever wonder why experts teach you to have your dog walk on your left side? Well, there is a very good reason for this. When you walk facing traffic, the left side gives the dog some protection. Even without formal competition heeling, it’s always a great idea to teach that left side position. http://www.wikifido.com/page/Walking+on+a+Leadand i found this fazbo lol.... Most dogs were bred for hunting at one time and you train for the left lead so your right side is free to shoulder your gun. Its just kinda stuck with the dog training over the years. Have you ever seen a dogs head bounce off a shotgun barrel that your cradling in your right arm?? | |

| My OH teaches ours to walk on both sides. I tend to put myself between the dogs & the traffic in the forlorn hope that passing cars will have a little more respect for me than my dogs | |
