| its scary isnt it, and then nicole wonders why i dont want her out at night!! this is one of the main reasons why i want to leave derby....its getting worse all the time, i watched a documentary a few years ago, and it said that the derby royal infirmary had the biggest rate of knife crime incidents and at least one a week being potentialy fatal! its a scary thought! | |

| thats true! very rarely you see derby in the news!
a friend of mine was stabbed on new years eve in the back by his wife, it seems to me that the more its televised about knife crime, the more people tend to think its the 'in' weapon to use!

| Unfortunately, I don't think it matters where you live anymore, social attitudes have changed, some people can't argue anymore without it becoming violent, it never used to be like that.
I know this sounds bad, but years ago if a fight broke out, it would be a punch or two, the unfortunate one would have a black eye or a split lip, but these days, they seem to not stop until the person ends up in hospital or is dead!

| this is what i was telling nicole a few weeks ago... many years ago, if two people had a problem they would take it outside and fight it out, no weapons, just fists, and as soon as the fight was over, that was it...back to normal, issue sorted!!!
nowadays they are cowards and have to carry weapons!
the attack on my friend was in a small village where my mum lives called mayfield, so yes unfortunately it happens everywhere!
when theres a stabbing, it seems to have a knock on effect, as if its the big thing at that moment, and it comes in spates of two or three at a time....

| I remember a few years ago, (will never forget) a lad about 17 was beating his 15 yr old girlfriend up outside our house, my OH (stupidly now) went to stop him, and what happened, the lad, his mate and the girlfriend jumped my OH and kicked the shit out of him, the cowardly bastards, there were footprints of the shoes clearly marked over his head and face, I felt sick then, and I still do. | |

| bloody hell! ive heard of this before though sange... it happened to a young lad at work years ago, he went to stop a bloke from hitting his girlfirend and he got beat up by them both and hospitalised, he had shoe marks on his face too....
it makes you wonder what the country is coming too, now if you see this sort of thing, you darent go to help and they could really do with it!...
i wartched a programme where they put some child actors in the middle of a shopping arcade and they were pretending to beat another kid up, and it showed you all the people that just looked and carried on walking, there was the odd few that helped, but not many, it was awful!... then they placed a small child in a shopping arcade crying, and they filmed it, and it was shocking to see how many people looked and carried on, one man stopped but got a woman to go over with him!... it was terrible to see, but then i thought what would i do if i saw a group of young teenagers fighting, i would have to think twice about going over incase they started on me, as for the young child, thats scary too, if you got caught with the child, you would be woried about being accused of allsorts....

| Yeah it's todays bloody society that we live in, and I fear that worse it will get, I sometimes wonder what the world will be like when my grandson is at the 'going out clubbing' stage, frightening. | |

| i get scared at the thought of nicole going clubbing and making her own way out in the world, when we move were buying a house with a very large garden or with some land, purposely so we can get one of those large summerhouses with multiple rooms for nicole to move into when shes in her late teens,.... i hate the thought of her living on her own..
and the thoguht of when tia is older, gawd knows what the country will be like then!.... we will probably emigrate, weve talked about it often and if it wasnt for my mum we would have done it by now, all my OH has to do is transfer to a foreign army such as the australian one and we could be gone
