| Well, things were going really well with Stan and Joe until the last few days. Hes been growling more and keeps getting teeth out to him too so I've decided, if he carries on, hes having a muzzle and he will be neutered next month anyway and see how we go. He can be fine with Joe then all of a sudden change and its a bit worrying when he does because it seems to come from nowhere. We are upping the training too and trying to get Joe very involved etc
Little pain in the arse :shutittt:

| Hes getting "boy hormones" too which could explain why hes being worse again. I caught him mounting Mags the other day. That fat lump just ignored him :2445: Joe will be at nursery soon too, his toilet training is going pretty well now which will make it lots easier and Stan is crate trained too so its manageable in the meantime. I've read male rotts can be a real pain when young too so its just a case of keeping on top and loads of training I think Its just annoying cos hes so timid with everyone but Joe. | |

| Am sure you will sort it hun, Joe does a lot with the dogs, much more than an average child would, hopefully when he is done he will be better, and like you say your upping the training, crossing everything for ya :san15: | |

| Thank you, it got me a bit down this morning cos he doesnt normally get his teeth out so I was "surprised"  He got a tap across the chops and ignored for a bit and has been fine since I think its little kids he doesnt like. He came from a home with kids, I think they ragdolled him alot, he can be a bit nervy. Hes perfectly fine with Adam though but will tense a little when he sees little ones on the park etc so we let them stroke the girls more and let Stan stand back and watch without being "pestered". | |

| It's more understandable if he came from a home that kids disrespected him, poor boy, but he still needs to learn that it's not on, you will nip this in the bud hun I am confident of that | |

| Thats what I thought. Were expecting this to be a "challenge" for a couple of years yet, with hormones etc and from what weve read about Rotts and young males, plus knowing other peoples dogs and thats fine, hes a great dog other than this slight issue
Oh, and the fooker chewed my dining chairs the other day :2445: :2445: :2445:

| Yeah, Vicks is great for that. He doesnt normally get the chance to chew, hes crated at night but we thought he was asleep in there. Obviously not :2445: Hes prob teething too, could be another reason hes grumpy. | |

| I've been reading in a couple of fb groups and a few people seem to have Rotts that grumble at them when they tell it to get off the sofa, calm down etc. They seem to think its a bree thing to grumble.
Also, weve noticed that when Stan growls at something outside or a noise etc, its a much deeper growl and his body language is all different to when he growls at Joe, so I'm wondering if it is a thing alot of Rotts do??? A "protest" of sorts?
Anyone else have experience with Rotts that do the same?

| Our Shadow does the famous Rottie rumble too hun, my brother has a firm hand with him but his g/f treats Shadow like a baby so he takes the total piss out of her It's rather un nerving if you're not used to a rottie rumble :2431: Shadow is a talker... he likes to have wee rumbly chats with you :2445: But like you say... you sure can tell the difference when it's a growl and not the typical rumble You're doing a great job with Stan hun  | |

| Is this like the GSD growwwwwwwwwwwllllllllllllllllllllll thing that's not a proper growl?
Bryn does it and people get nervous of it but it's not the same growl as when he is 'serious' it a talking to us groany type growl that my mom says sounds like a bear.
Or is it somrthing different that Rotties do?

| im glad you said bryn does it sange, i was reading through thinking 'this is what fred does sometimes' and for those who dont know, it can sound menacing, but sometimes fred does it if you wont throw his ball in the garden he does a growl as he trots off lol.. its a grumble more than anything :2431: | |
