| So how many of you still innoculate your dogs every year?
Or did any of you stop after the puppy jabs?

| I get mine done every year but I always take them out about a week after their first puppy jabs.
For me, its about balancing the risk of illness against having a big, powerful, undersocialised dog and as the first few weeks often set the backbone for life, I take that risk.
I certainly couldnt leave Stan any longer either, hes nearly 15 weeks now and his second jab is due on thursday so he wouldnt get out and about until nearly 16 weeks old.

| fred has his booster ...but he hasnt had his kennel cough.... im going to get that done this year though, as hes going into kennels again when we go on holiday...last year he came home with a bot of a cough!
we think were going to have to start from scratch with betty, no one seems to know if shes even had her first lot yet, and because she hasnt got records the vet wants to start all over again to be sure!!!

| shady had her last jab today so she is allowed out next week, :san12: it wasnt easy carrying her to the vets today i can tell yer, :xsa: Bailey has had his puppy jabs but not yearly booster. Tilly has had all her jabs.but the vet she was with 6 years back was struck off a year ago, i never got her vacc certificates off him even tho i went on and on and on at him to get them to me. we found out hundreds of other clients didnt get theirs either  | |

| There is a growing number of people who believe that it's just a money spinner for vets as dogs will carry the anti-body for life as we do measles etc | |

| Some people have now started to give boosters every 3 years, as some vets say this is all that's necessary. My mom has always and her dogs vaccinated on time every year, but she still lost a dog to parvo, at 4 years of age. Max was vaccinated as a puppy, then again at 10 years, and lived to 19. Sabre was has been vaccinated yearly and was due last October but the vet recommended not too because of this auto immune disorder. It's really hard to decide what to do for the best. | |

| yes, that's why i started the thread, I have always done the yearly boosters, but after researching I am more confused, a lot of people have had their dogd titre (sp) tested and their immune system is high to everything! | |

| Some people even think vaccinations are harmful, can lead to things like fits and epilepsy! Seems there is a risk whichever road we take. | |
