as you know I volunteer for a number of rescues, uk german shepherd dog rescue being one of them.
all animals are precious but sometimes one comes along that reaches a place in your heart that no other can touch.

Ruby is approx 8-9 months old, she was handed into a volunteer down south by a gentleman who had aquired her off a "friend" he was in no position to pay the vet bills So Ruby has been brought to a foster home in warrington.

when rescued no one really had any idea of the extent of her injuries and the money needed to help Ruby get back to full health and consequently a new home, (not that it would have stopped the rescue taking her in)

Ruby arrived yesterday, Her skin is very sore, full of open wounds & scabs. However, that is the least of her problems. Ruby carries her hind leg, as it appears her hip is dislocated. Her ears are so badly infected they are bleeding. Over half of her tail is missing- either chewed off or hacked off. Yet she is so gentle and affectionate. —

It is belived that Ruby has been used as a "bait" dog, yet she is wonderfully natured, friendly and loving to people and children and attempting to be playful with the foster carers other dogs.

If anyone can possibly help me, to help the rescue, to help Ruby, I would be eternally grateful, its going to be a very long haul for her, and a lot of vetrinary treatment but she is definately worth it.

if you would like to make a donation, please pm me, thank you.

now I,m off to cuddle my lovely dogs, they don't know how luck they are

here is a post on fb from Rubys foster carer....

Well it is not bad, but not good news for Ruby.
Her hip isnt dislocated- the injury is from a dog biting through her tendons, as it has partially healed, there is nothing that can be done to alter the limp and the way she carries her leg. Pain relief, and she will always struggle with mobility & artritis in time to come. Vet did say she would be lucky to be still walking at 4-6yrs old.
Her tail appears to have been bitten off, and has healed.
Her ears are infected & it is a deep seated infection, so she has had them deep cleaned under anaesthetic.
Her entire body is covered in puncture wounds and bite wounds. Some infected, some healed.
Vet suspected multiple dogs have been attacking her, not just one.
She is on pain relief, steroids, anti inflammatorys, antibiotics and ear drops. Vet said she will probably suffer for life with ongoing ear problems.

She was good as gold for the vet. Bringing her home later for cuddles.

this was written by Sarah from another forum and she has invited me to share it with you

You gaze at me with loving eyes, but do you really know?
That just outside your window in that wonderland of snow
There are so many other pets, less fortunate than you
They have no arms to hold them and no food to see them through
They too once gazed up lovingly from at their owners feet
They maybe had a cosy bed and lots of food to eat
But all that love just faded, their owners just got bored
They saw them as a nuisance that they really can’t afford
They had a heart so full of love, they gave it readily
But all that love was wasted cos their owners could not see
Disguarded like the rubbish and cast out into the snow
So very very frightened with no real place to go,
Some of them were lucky ones,a rescue helped them out
They found them someone new to love who knew what they're about
But others weren’t so lucky, they wandered all alone
Never really understanding why they could not stay at home
Im so glad that I have you all and that you share my days
You all make me so happy in a million different ways
But right now I am grateful that you’ll never understand
What suffering is dealt to other pets by the selfish human hand
So sleep beneath the Christmas tree, you never need to fear
You.ll always have a loving home..as long as I am here.Ruby, please read 743284
