| Aww hun I know exactly where you are coming from............... the only difference with my situ is that Kyle is going to army college first in September. He has been in the cadets and we have noticed such a change in his whole attitude since joining. He is away this week on a Yorkshire Warrior Insight Course where he will get a feel for army life. As a mum it is part of our job to worry over our kids. All I can suggest is what Sue has said, have a look at army website etc and try and get some background knowledge yourself. A lot I admit is propaganda and hard sell but it may help you to assess how you feel but most of all talk to Marc. What corps has he signed up for? Maybe you could get more info about what he is going to be doing from there. I'm sure Shell would be able to help you too. I am worried about Kyle going into the Army we have advised him to our best ability but at the end of the day it is his decision and he has to live with that but it doesnt stop the worry or heartaches from a mum | |

| A bit of extra info hun when applying it takes a lot of interviews medical and physical exams etc before you become accepted. Marc may get fed up with the long windedness of it all or he may find he cannot cope with the physical training aspects of it all. Just a thought hun. Its taken Kyle a lot of travelling for medicals and physical training to get accepted. He hated his time in Scotland but he was so committed he kept at it. There is still time for Marc to change his mind and quite a lot can happen in between. Hope it all helps. | |

| Aww hun I dont know how your lad is but my daughter would of been hard to talk out of anything if she had her mind set on doing something, but Sue and Suzie brought up some good advice, if you can sit him down like Sue said and chat some of it may stick in his mind, by the time Suzie has said it takes he may have distractions which makes going in not so attractive. Thats basically all I can add hun | |

Sorry but not coping with this!!!!! bless you hun i can totally understand how youre feeling ... ive always said that i wouldnt want either of my girls joining the army .. my mum always said the same about my brother too...but he went ahead and did it anyway ... if your son is anything like my brother then the more you protest, the more determined he will be my neice is in the final stages of joining up and as suzie says... its a long process and he may get bored with it ... and if he does get through.... he may not even want to complete his basic training ....my friends son didnt ....he came home halfway through lol but you are right in saying that the recruitment officer does paint a rosy picture ... but his basic training will tell him a different tale dont let it get you down hun .. | |
