Seven-year-old girl bitten so badly an artery in her arm was punctured

An RSPCA rescue dog that punctured a main artery in a little girl's arm will not be destroyed, say police.

The
seven-year-old, who lives in Stony Stratford, is this week recovering
from seven hours of specialist surgery at Stoke Mandeville hospital.

Meanwhile white German Shepherd Zeus is still at home with his owner John Everard.

He
adopted the dog from an RSPCA rescue home just two days before the
attack, which happened while the girl was riding her bicycle along the
pavement with her mother.

thats a hard 1 to decifer tbh - i think that if people feel the dog doesnt need to be put down it shud atleast be made to be muzzled outside atleast then if it does lunge to catch something like that again it cant do any damage

im glad the little girl is ok tho

hmmm its a tough one A dog's life? or a child's life? 910222 ....

it sounds like it was a nasty accident.... the man and his dog should be made to attend training, and until he can control it properly on lead, the dog should be muzzled in public .....

well....i'm going to stick my ore in on this 1 i think.... he pulled the dog away from the pavement so in my opinion he done the right thing, but i don't agree with muzzling.... i don't agree with any dog being muzzled at all. I'm glad the dog won't be put to sleep!!! others may disagree, but it sounds like a sheer accident. However,he should've had him on a short lead. But it states he had him under control but obviously not!! otherwise the dog would've been pulled back, either that or he didn't move far enough out of the way!!! don't think anyone's to blame but to go that deep into the girls arm he must have very sharp teeth,my arm's brushed past dogs teeth before and it's only left a scratch,so i don't think the full story is being told....too many gaps. so here we go then!!! just as predicted.....this was bound to happen after bbc's panorama programme!! now the rspca will have to tighten the tests and be alot more vigilant in the dogs they rehome..... maybe we'll see more dogs being pts secretly and passing them off as "too dangerous to rehome" but this story will give rescue dogs a bad name now no doubt....but who knows...zeus may have had a bad experience with bikes that neither the rspca or the new owner knew about, maybe he should be more vigilant and more responsible!! when i walk my dog when i'm passing people he is pulled towards me and i have a firm grip on the lead at all times,i do that because A i'm sensible,B i think of other people that may be scared of his size or breed and C incase he decides to chase a cat or something,he won't get very far. but on this story i believe it was a sheer accident, the kid will live and the dog should too!! it was not a vicious attack!! and as for the secret source.....go ahead and do your worst.....i'm backing zeus all the way!!! i hope alot more people are behind me A dog's life? or a child's life? 805515

Quote by the owner: 'His teeth just happened to catch her arm'

Catch her arm?!!! To the point that her artery was punctured?!

What a load of bulls**t!
