Fancheck itself isnt a virus. its a program that causes fb to play up, then people look online for a cure and will find "fixes" ready to download, which is the actual virus. Genius eh?

I've used spybot and avast antivirus and only found a couple of bits of malware, which spybot got rid of and facebook is working fine again now.

I sent this in a message on fb, then realised people might think its a virus and not me so im putting it here too

Dunno if this is all a coincidence but I did spybot, blocked the app and fb is fine now so I'm sharing!!

cheers hun, i got rid of the application last night, but it was still playing up, i'll download spybot now and run that...

it says for spybot to get rid of the threats and infections it detectd, i have to subsribe

People are opening fancheck which then leads to people downloading a virus,

If you havent touched fancheck, you will be OK even if you have been on FB?

Fan check will tag you in a photo if one of your friends uses it Sandra, then it will scramble your facebook. Thats when people will look for "cures" and download viruses. Thats what I read, anyway.

I'm just checking Spybot Shelley, I've used it for years and never had to subscribe :nhy:

oh right paula... it detected viruses and threats, then to remove them i had to subscribe, but its now working in the background and frequently pops up to say its blocked something or other...ive downloaded avant....not sure if its slowing the pc though

avant is a browser Shelley. sorry, think I've given you the wrong link. Avast is a good, free antivirus program. It will slow your pc a little but they all will.

Avast has a free home edition you need to register your email address with and they send you a key for a year. You can renew for free again the next year.

I've used spybot and avast for years with a windows firewall and never have anything serious on my pc, just a few tracking cookies and shit which spybot deletes for me.
