when do gsd's stop growing

at what age do they stop growing... a few people just recently have commented on how much bigger fred has got! i thought he would have stopped growing a long time ago

i saw a friend the last week, and she hasnt seen fred for a while, and she said ''bloody hell hes got big''

and then today we took him to my mums with me, and she and her husband both said how much he had grown, and they saw him just a few months ago ...

a freind came over to see me the other day, and she said how much weight fred had put on, she said '' he doesnt dip in at the sides anymore'' lmao...

i personally cant see that hes grown any bigger, but i can see hes put weight on

axle stopped around a year got big quick and looked very thin but starting to fill out now
usually takes 2 years for dogs to look right

freds 20mths, hes 2 on july 1st... he surely cant have grown anymore could he? hes filling out, which is what i expected

he will probably look bigger now that he is filling out we used to laugh at axle when we showed him last year as looked so funny next to the older dogs in his class as he had no bulk just looked like a bag of bones but his weight was perfect for size

oh axle will be 2 2nd may

i found keke stoped growing and filling out at about 3 yr old hun she was nicely muscled up by then and didnt grow andy bigger she grew very slowly too but being a bitch is small anyway lol

pups fully grown i would say and is 18 months just filling out now id say altho hes solid muscle

Thanks for asking that Shell as I have been wondering too. I dont think Marley has grown much since last year but he is bulking out, he is eating much better since changing him to Arden grange. Everyone we meet who has gsds keep saying he's just a young un how old? when we say 16 months they say he still has a puppy face!! :2431:

i get this with fred too hun, if were in the petshop and somebody stops to fuss him, they will say ohh hes going to be a bog lad, how old is he, when i tell them his age therye shocked they think hes going to be younger, cos his face is still very young looking lol....

is that all dogs that grow till they r 18 months n fill out till 2 yrs? or jus GSD's?

think just the larger breeds nix they seem to grow before filling out

with large breeds ppl say they stop growing at 18 months skelital wise but i always wait to do anything to physical for my dogs till after at least 2yr old as i dont belive they are fully grown at the most till 2 and above this inc some northern breeds for me and as i want a fit healthy working dog i dont want it to get DJ diseases and after keke had her hips xrayed ect they were all shocked how good they were considering the work she does so just pays off i guess xx

depends on the dog but yes i dont think he will be mully grown till around to and keep filling out till after that lol

my workers are not fully muscled ect till about 3yrs old and i do a lot with them but limit certain exercises to eliminate the risk of DJD and other strains ect

yea sounds about right hun some foods if too high in protein and calcium can make your dog grow faster then it should too

is he from show/pet lines? he has a bit of bone doesnt he so he may grow bigger and be a lil heaver too :love:

pet lines he is on large breed puppy food to so i think thats ok for him growing

yea see the working lines are lighter boned and smaller thats why i wounderd hun he will be bigger then them so yea you got a fair bit to go but prob only grow a lil more and fill out go through all the gangally puppy stage lmao xx

exactly hun ke looks odd now with her CDRM shes lost nearly all that muscle from her back end but still is up front a lil so looks weird lol
