catch up!

hullo peeps

its been busy again here hence my absence. weve had appointments coming out of our ears at mo, physio,audiology, opthamology, its been non stop. Added to that baby signing classes and down syndrome family support meetings on top of an already hectic lifestyle by 9pm im ready to collapse   but this little poser makes it all worth while.

She is amazing everyone with her progress. She is such a cheerful wee soul with a love of family singing entertainment and music. Even the darkest days are made so much brighter by this beautiful smile

We are trying to spend quality time with the other children as Sofia is taking up an awful lot of time .

My mum seems to be detriorating rapidly at mo too. She isnt recognising us at times is very emotional wanders regularily etc. wev introduced some external people to help now just to give my mams friend Janet a bit of 'me' time. I am eternally grateful to Janet who has been like the big sister i never had without her mum would be in a home by now

Im rarely found with my hook at mo as my concentration by the end of the day is zilch.

Sounds like you never stop   it must be really stressful never getting a break  but very rewarding to see that gorgeous smile
Sorry to hear about your mum   it sounds like she has deteriated very quickly
I know how you must feel its horrible when they don't recognise you

I'm guessing everyone gets their updates on there now   no one is posting on here again

I haven't joined facebook hun dont worry... in fact i hate the damn thing but i joined Instagram last year just after Sofia was born as there are a lot of people on there who have children who have DS. I have found them to be a great source of info, encouragement, knowledge and support for me. Theyve experienced the same feelings i have re:self doubt, worry etc They keep saying i should join the various DS groups on FB but i wont. Its a comfort to know that they know how stressful/rewarding life of a special needs mum is and being able to share experiences is good therapy for me.
Weve requested that mams meds be reassessed to see if we see any improvement but i reckon its a long shot. The kids are all finding it hard to be cheerful when we see her and they do become frustrated when she repeated asks them the same questions regularly. The older ones understand but the younger ones
are old enouh for us to explain her condition fully.

I really feel for you trying to cope with your mums ill health i know how hard it is
Demetia is a horrible horrible disease

Lovely pics Suzie, as you say that smile pf Sofia's will brighten every day up, she is beautiful as are all your children, signing is such a wonderful invention, we used it where I once worked but the signs were generally made up by the clients as we went along some were the right ones though.

Sorry about your mom, as Bren says Dementia is horrible and very painful for the families
