my opinion is if a loved one is suffering and theres no chance of recovery I believe in assisted suicide its cruel to let an animal suffer so why let a human suffer when they can be put out of their pain and suffering instead of prolonging it. It would be a terrible decision to have to make but I think it should be made available.

i totally agree jude , i think that if people can never ever get better and are in pain they should be allowed to end their own life with their family around them , i think having control of the situation been able to plan your funeral and make sure your loved ones are not left with any kind of debt would be a comfort ,

My mum has expressed to me that if she ever got that ill that her quality of life is non existants then she would want to go to swizterland for assisted suicide. I would have to respect her decision if it came to it. I agree that we wouldnt let any animal to suffer and shouldnt let a human but I would find it very hard to do - but then i am scared of death.

I agree with what everyone else has said assisted suicide 910222 I think if you are of sound mind you should have the choice if you are terminally ill and in pain with no quality of life to look forward to

I wouldnt like to burden someone close with the guilt of helping me tho assisted suicide 583730
Thats the kind of thing that could totally ruin someones life assisted suicide 910222 wondering if they should of helped

Thats why i think there should be places you can contact in this country like the ones in Switzerland assisted suicide 910222 It shouldnt be a book an appointment for a certain day kind of thing either assisted suicide 583730 Something like this shouldnt be rushed into and needs to be talked through with doctors before the final decision is made assisted suicide 910222

I think assisted suicide should be legalised however I also think that it should be supervised perhaps with a doctor/nurse or similar present.

When my grandad was in hospital with chronic heart failure, all he wanted to do was die, you would ask him if he wanted anything (a drink, something to eat etc) and all he would say is 'You know what I want. Let me die, I want to die' it was awful to be in that position knowing full well that you can do nothing but sit and watch a loved one deteriorate before your eyes and in cases like this then the doctor should be able to intervene and with consent of the patient and next of kin allow them to die with dignity. I watched my other grandad deteriorate with emphasema and 2 close friends die from cancer, all wanted help to die and again all we could do was sit and wait for the inevitable.

I think if we are all honest then we are all scared of dying, I know I am and i constantly worry about my pets and my family if i was to go before them. I even worry if my husband was to go first. I just cling on to the hope that there is life after death and i will see my loved ones once more.
