Im on half days for the rest of the week as Marley is poorly again Hes had terrible runs which started through the night on Friday, he was okish sat and sunday but came back with a vengeance on Monday. Normally chicken and rice solves the problem but not this time hes had us up 3 or 4 times through the night and now its horrible yellow slime so we are back to vets at 4.20 hope the meetings go well Sue, Enjoy your days off Elaine

Is the 'runs' very runny, almost watery? Reason I ask is that, do you walk you dogs in woods, forests, etc, do they drink from puddles (this is hard to stop)? It can get picked up from Bird poop! If it was me...I would get your Vet to do a stool work on him and check for Giardia, Crypto and Coccidia! it is the high or low white count which will tell you what he has. they have similiar symtoms to Parvo but less severve as the dogs seem ok otherwise. Also, dogs over the age of two can be asymmptematic (sic) show all the signs but don't pass it on. It takes about 10 days for test results but there is no cure, not even frost or heat, only burning!! Bleach is the best ...washing bowls, areas etc. Panacur 10% is excellent as it is a broad spectrum. Just a thought !

Just a thought ! It is mucus carolyne and his poo is a horrible orangey/yellow colour its really awful. they dont walk in woods and we keep them away from areas where we know is stagnant water etc. neil says he has a stomach and bowel infection so more antibiotics and an anti sickness jab as he is bringing up bile he's lost about 2kgs bless him but should start to feel better by the weekend if not then I will mention what you have said carolyne and get him tested

| Can I also suggest you don't give him Anit-biotics but Pro-biotics. I feed mine a course of Natural Yoghurt for 7 days.
I will finish this in about an hour.....have to go |

| Sorry............someone came in to pick up a dog
Pro biotic yoghurt and you can only use it for a period of time. BUT you can't use it whilst using anti biotic...cancels each other out. Anti biotics are surprisingly prescribed unnecessarily quite often. Noriclav being the most common. It destroys the good bacteria in the gut along with the bad...It doesn't know which is which!!!! Balance is very hard to achieve and can be upset very easily especially with numbers of dogs as each has its own set of individual bacterium ..... ! Giardia and Crypto can be picked up so easily and carried around like luggage, passing from one dog to the next quickly. However they can pick it up even by licking an old dropping, where an old dropping was or a wet patch! Coccidia is NASTY!!!! and is very hard to be rid of, if ever. Mucus, blood and soft poos are one sign.....one day its fine then the next its back again. IT can even be clear for a few days or even a week...then come back with a vengance.! Keeping on top of it is the key. Bleach, Tripe (raw and preferably dirty green - from knackers yard) and once a month a 7 day course of yoghurt. |

| hmmm that explains a lot actually... fred used to suffer with the runs which would be mucasy and bloody, since hes been on green tripe he never suffered with it again ... he does have other meat and some dried stuff too, but his main diet is tripe ... | |
