The grand national

Did anyone have a bet on it...
I have never had a bet before but this year I did ...

And my horse won

To say I am chuffed is an understatement

I know it's not every ones cup of tea and unfortunately a horse died so that put a bit of a dampener on it afterwards

I dont bet on the national anymore and i definately dont watch it

Every time ive watched it in the past atleast one horse ends up dead

The main reason i stopped watching was a few years ago the horse id bet on fell and the camera panned over to it and the commentator said oh the horse is fine its up
It had got up but had actually broken its leg and it was flopping about it was horrible It made me feel so ill I just cant watch it now

I was at my brothers today while it was on so sat in the other room while they watched it My sister in law came back in and said it looked like two horses had died

I used to love betting on the horses but would only ever bet on flat racing now
Too many horses die on the jumps

I with Bren when it comes to the grand national. Where i used to work they used to do a sweep stake i would never participate . Too many horses get injured due to those huge jumps.

It's the first time I've ever bet on any horse race, my joy was short lived after hearing about the horses dying, doubt I'll be having a bet next year I never realised horses got injured or killed... Bit of a grand national virgin

I dont bet on the National.

And Bren I hate to disillusion you but flat racing is even worse.

Racing is a vile industry where the horse is just a commodity. To race a horse at the age of two is nothing short of cruel IMHO. They are simply not up to it physically or mentally. Normal people dont even begin to break horses until they are three or even four.

Thousands of horses are bred each year and it's only the very small minority who make the grade. And when their career is over? Hello Dandy won the National in 1984. Ten years later he was found in a field starving, suffering from rain scald & cracked hooves. There's gratitude for you!
