Any tips anyone its been a while since we last did lead training If ya think I'm moving with that thing on Forget it Could be quite fun with this red thing on. Maybe just a bit of a walk then | |

| Its Alasdair who does the 'breaking in' with the pups.
His method is to just keep on walking.....the pup soon gets the idea to walk beside him!
Alasdair has always said, if you keep stopping and looking down at the pup, then they will soon learn to 'take the mince!' which makes lead training hard.
I have seen him do it in less than 5 minutes, then transfer onto a show slip lead within 15 mins!
Hopes this helps. |

| hes boody bootiful ... i remember putting the lead on fred for the first time and he looked at me as if to say ... what the feck is that thing ... he didnt take to it kindly so we used to slip the lead on him while he was pottering around the house and occasionally pick it up and walk him.... he soon got the idea lol ... he loved it | |

| We've had him on the lead in the house , laying on his back when he's sat down. What we are trying to establish is not to chew the damn thing. he is such an aggressive chewer. will keep at it obviously and over time I know he'll get better. | |

| Rub chilli paste on the lead or anything else he enjoys chewing! It works believe me.
We had one recently who was really bad, not only leads, doors, kennels but humans too so for about a week our place smelled like an Indian carry out....he doesn't do it anymore! We did resort to a bit of Jamaican bell peppers on the wellies and he never went near them again after having one lick!
Its a short, sharp way but it does get the message over and they remember that the lead, door, couch doesn't taste nice. |
