| Viva was spayed on the 7th Dec, She went back to the vets on the 15th as she had alot of pus coming out. Shes since had the stitches out and the nurse was pleased with the wound. She is still on the anti bioctics. Last night i noticed a few drops of blood here on her bed and again today on the floor where she was sitting which seems to be coming from her fanny/vagina. Is this normal? | |

| I got her to the vets, he checked her over said she seems ok in her self, there slight swelling on her wound, he thinks she was allergic to the stiches. He just said to keep her on the anti bioctics she's already on and maybe take her for a check up when she finishes the anti biotics , other than that just keep an eye on her tonight and tomorrow. Luckily he didn't charge to see her, phew | |

| Sounds like what happened to Keira and she was also allergic to the stitches Definately keep an eye on her Keira had a stump pyometra think that is what it was called a few months after her spay which is extremely serious and she nearly died The symptoms are similar I dont want to scare you im only telling you just so you are aware because we had never heard of it before If her temperature goes really high make sure you see the vet again Im sure Viva will be fine and it is just the stitches causing the problem Keep us updated on how she is | |

| Thanks everyone. Cheers Bren, i'd rather be told and aware of these things, she had the stitches out on thursday so i dont know why my vet didnt suggest an allergy then But i will keep monitering her and any change in her i will be straight back to the vets. She seems perfectly fine in herself, she has been very hypo over the last 2 days because of the snow all she wants to do is play but shes not allowed off the lead yet. | |

| She seems fine in herself today but I'm keeping a very close eye on her. She had more spotting during the night but it seems to have darkened and more like a discharge rather than fresh blood. | |

| Shes doing ok thanks, i was in london all day yesterday so mum was dog sitting for me, she didnt notice any spotting and she was her normal self behaviour wise. She had her last anti bioctic last night so will keep an eye on her over this week, might just phone my vet to mention about having to take her to the emergency vet and see what they say. The emergency vet did say to take her for a check up when she finished her tablets, so im gonna just see how she goes. Im starting to leave her without her buster collar now and she went out in the garden without her lead this morning, so fingers crossed shes all better Thanks for asking how she is | |

| Just a lil update Shes doing well, no more blood or discharge 1phew I did take her to the vets the other day to see the nurse as she has a very hard lump under the skin where her stitches were, feels like when you get a hurnia (sp) The nurse said its a reaction to her internal stitches, which i wasnt convinced but got a second opinion from one of the girls from the stables who used to be a vet nurse and she said the same thing. Just got to keep checking the lump every other day to make sure it doesnt get bigger and it should disappear over the net 2-3weeks as the internal stitches can sometimes take up to 120days to dissolve fully. Whilst she was at the vets i had to have her dew claw checked again as shes broken it again but its fine and healing well | |
