| So Max is my cross collie, almost 19, has a heart condition and vet says his liver maybe on the way out. For the last couple of months he's had the odd problem and urinated in his sleep, which we've just cleaned up and put down to his age and ill health. But the last week or so he has been doing it all the time! I'm continually following him around with the mop and bucket! It seems quite a lot of urine and very frequent, sometimes every half hour or so. Just gonna book him in the vets but wondered if you guys had any experience of incontinence?... ooohhh, and not personally! I mean with your dogs! | |

| He doesn't seem ill in himself. Does sleep a lot, and has a bit of trouble breathing. It's more an inconvenience, I no sooner sit down after cleaning up and 10 mins later I'm back up for the mop again... and he looks so sad and guilty when he has done it! | |

| aww bless him, i hope all goes well at the vets hun
it all comes down to age doesnt it, hes at a good age now, and like us humans, the older we get the more health problems we have ....
have you tried him with a pair of period pants for dogs?.... if hes wee'ing that much, it might be an idea to try them, im not sure though how much the pants soak up??... if he only dribbles wee, it might be okay...
my mum bought some nappies for her dog when she got older, she cut a hole out for the tail and used them in the house  | |

| So Max has his vet appoinment in an hour. God, I feel sick every time I have to take him now... just in case the vet says it's time. Have a feeling we are getting really close now. All he seems to be doing is either be sleeping or peeing on the floor! He's hardly eating anything. Tried to bath him last night, cuz with the diarrhoea he can get a bit messy round the back end. Trimmed some fur away... and he looks so sore, poor boy! Put some cream on for him. He's become so lifeless. Last night he wouldn't even stand for me, although I think he may have been sulking because of the bath! Getting to the point where I'm having to carry him in and out of the garden cuz he just doesn't want to get up. Really want the vet to prescribe something and say it will help, but at the same time, although he doesn't seen in any pain, I hate to see him like this! *sighs*.... well best go get ready then.... | |

| Linda, there is not much I can say, other than I will be thinking of you both and prey that his condition can be greatly improved by his visit to the vets.

| So just back from vets. He said we had 2 choices... we could "call it a day" as he so old and there is probably not much that can be done for him now, or investigate his stomach swelling further. Said it could just be fluid or could be liver failure, or could be a tumor. So he's been kept in for an ultraound and some blood tests. If they find a tumor he doesn't recommend surgery because of his heart. Will get the results of the ultrasound around lunchtime.... so just have to wait now.... | |
