After reading and seeing the video that Linda posted, I thought I would see what you guys think of the KC and some of the breeders we have in this country.
Like I said before, I love going to big dog shows, and Crufts is my Fav, there is so much to do and see, from Agility, Flyball, Heelwork to Music and of course the Showing of the dogs.
But I do have a huge issue with the KC, I think they could do an awful lot more to ensure the future welfare of some breeds.
I would like a temperament test as well as health tests be mandatory before anyone can breed a dog.
I know there are some issue with breeders with the newly 'docked' law as there was no reference originally to tail carriage for some breeds, also, the length of tails in naturally bobbed tail dogs, like the Aussie, a litter of pups can be born with a natural bob tail, a normal full length tail, and ANYTHING in-between, so you have all shapes and size tails in breeds who have natural bob tails.
The KC are also re-writing the standard for a few breeds????? where have they been till now, there are so many breeds that have gone through years of selected breeding to enhance, decrease certain aspects of their comformation that this is going to be tricky to solve, they have left everything to long, been turning a blind eye and allowing some breeds to be deviating from their original 'working' aspects, after all, every dog was originally bred for a purpose, even some of the companion dogs were specifically bred for that purpose.
I am not referring to the BYB and Puppy Farms, that is another whole new aspect as well that is being given a very light hearted set of rules that are not regulated as they should.
