bad dog fred!!

ive had a bad day today with fred.... hes been excellent for the past few weeks, and then today the OH came home and it has been bedlam... he took ages to settle down when the OH came in.... we went out for a walk to the racecourse....he was good on the field... we then went to PAH.... where he was fine with all the people in there he ignored them, then we were at the counter paying and he saw a large white akita and went absolutely psycho dog, it was completely out of the blue... then he was the same to a cavalier pup out side .... i ahve no idea why he did this... he is currently in the kitchen cos hes been doing my head in all evening...panting and pacing about unable to settle.... ....

Only joking hun, I have no answers to why they do it, Marley is the same at times. I took him out the other night and a guy who Marley knows from the pub and is fine with walked past us at the bottom of the street and spoke to us and Marley went ballistic. The only thing I can think of is he had sunglasses on which he doesnt normally when he is making a fuss of Marley.

i agree with that jude... the OH can bugger off back to camp lol... fred and tia both play up when hes home.... ....

i wish i could read freds mind and find out why he does this when the OH is home... he must give off the wrong vibes i cant think of anything else.....

ohh bloody hell hun, could be due to a number of factors hard to know with out seeing him but your OH pressence could have a HUGE effect on him.

i would make it clear to the OH he has to be as consistant as you with his training hun.

altho your gonna have bad days dont let them get you down hun

i would normally say its the OHs fault, but he didnt have time to do anything... its as if fred gets all panicked because the roles in the house are shifted or something.... hes only just relaxed and stopped panting and gone to sleep.....

im afraid today i did get frustrated.... i know i shouldnt have done and i did take 5 to calm down.... but it was as if a switch ahd been flicked on as soon as my OH came home....

do you think fred could possibly be jealous of your hubby, your attention will be more on hubby than fred and he's been naughty to get your attention back, only a thought

hmmm im not sure.... i never give my OH much attention lol....

seriously though i think this could be it.....for the first 6mths of his life my OH was away in afghan....and even now hes only back some weekends...so for the rest of the time hes just got me and the kids... thinking about it....hes normally lying next to me....but since the OH has got home he hasnt

Its the opposite in our house The dogs are fine when with OH but as soon as i come into the room they start playing up fighting etc It is very frustrating :

OH says its my negative vibes Probably is because i know they will start being silly I think they get jealous of each other both wanting to be the centre of attention They get all excited Mickey starts being silly biting Keira she gets annoyed and they start fighting

hmmm you might have something there with the negative vibes thing bren.... my OH dreads the commotion fred is going to make ..so i reckon fred picks up on this... and my OH is quite an energetic person, so i reckon these are unsettling vibes for fred too.... its damn annoying though, when i know hes a good dog, he will settle down after a while and all will be okay....

i bet its frustrating for you too bren... im gonna suggest my OH takes some 'calms' half hour before he comes home lol... see if that makes a difference...i even comtemplated getting fred a DAP collar to see if this chilled him out when the OH comes home...

maybe your hubby and fred should spend a little time together , just those 2 playing and bonding without you or children anywhere near , fred might see hubby more of a friend than a foe

brena i would just treat your dogs like they were invisible , if you ignore them they might just think she's not taking notice so why do it,

I get stressed out really easily

my OH was doing this at one stage, but then he doesnt continue it.... hes not consistent enough.... he does throw the ball for him when were out on a walk together on a weekend which he normally enjoys,... but today he kept running back to me lol... (fred i mean lol)
