| this was posted on 'petstreet' last month... i was just browsing the site and came across it.... Vena ONE of two German Shepherds stolen from a garden has been found locked in a barn with his tail cut off. The three-year-old dog was discovered only because a man drove to a remote field to feed his horse and saw a muzzle poking through a gap. He had been missing for five days. The other GSD, his litter brother, has not been found after disappearing from the property in Kent nearly three weeks ago. Owner Roy Lupton said the two dogs were in the garden at about 9pm when they disappeared. After an exhaustive search, which involved putting up posters all over the area between Hollingbourne and Bearsted, they received a call. “Someone had found Titan locked in a barn terribly mutilated,” he said. “They had chopped his tail right off and the wound had become gangrenous.” The vet who treated Titan said his tail had been removed with a sharp instrument.
Lucky
“We were lucky to find him before he died,” Mr Lupton said. “Someone had gone to water and feed their horses and saw his muzzle sticking out of a gap in the barn. This was nearly ten miles from our house, in a remote part behind Detling Hill. No one would know that barn was there unless they knew the area well.” Titan is recovering at home. “He is very sorry for himself,” Mr Lupton said. “All his confidence has gone and he sticks to us like glue. “He’s in a lot of pain and discomfort. Only the stub of his tail is left and we were lucky to save him at all. It got very close to him being put down.” The only possible sighting of Zeuss was by a man who saw a dog of his description being led on a piece of rope in Stockbury village on June 13. Mr Lupton is doing all he can to find Zeuss, and is warning other owners to be on their guard. “We are horrified by it all,” he said. “We don’t know why they were taken in the first place.”
