| Has anyones dog had blocked anul glands? Keira had been quite moody and kept licking her bum alot :sadd: Took her to the vets yesterday and she had to have her anul glands emptied :zas: Apparently they were infected aswell so is on antibiotics for a few days I did look to see if i could see if she was sore but she looked normal to me Vets obviously know what to look for She seems so much happier since having it done I think it might of been caused by me changing her food She was fine on Arden Grange but fussy and not eating it so i put her on RAW which she eats but that makes her a bit constipated and i noticed she piled the pounds on so ive changed her back to AG but with a little RAW mixed in Mickey is still on RAW as AG made him throw up So far so good Hopefully she will be ok now but the vet said she may need it done again at a later date Good job i held her head when he did it she didnt half squirm and would of nipped him It must of been sore :ezcs: | |

| My friends Weimaraner has to have this done regularly. the only problem we had with Marley was when we were giving him raw lamb bones and he became very constipated and started to squeal when he was having a poo so he doesnt get those anymore, we only rarely give him a marrow bone now. | |

| Too much bone tends to cause constipation. A bit more meat might help and if the balance is right, they should squeeze the glands as it passes through, stopping the glands filling back up again   | |

| Definately think it was me tinkering with her diet :2431: She went from constipated to going often in a short space of time Im hoping both the dogs diets will be ok now Keira on AG with small amount of minced RAW chicken and tripe mixed in and Mickey on Chicken wings (his favourite) and minced RAW meat | |

| Jason suffered with this a few times as an older puppy. I probably should not tell you this but, one day he was under my feet (as they do) I didnt realise, went to walk and fell flat on my bonce and sort of half fell on him. Well, the shock of it made him empty his gland....it shot right down the hallway in a squirt :zas: luckily missing me because boy does it stink! He never had a problem from that day onwards...not that I applaud falling on your dog of course! | |
