update on kiera

well we are back....

the vet was such a lovely guy very thorough! wen kiera walked into the consulting room she lept on him paws over his shoulders hugging him and kissing him :2431: :san42: he couldnt stop laughing! anyway she was her usual crazy self jumping around to which he even said a dog with DM after a yr could genrally not act like this.

so we did a few tests reflexes, running up and down, manipulaing joints, ect her left foot was slow to respond to the reflex test. and i noticed she was un-leval on it past wk to which he confirmed.

well cut a very long story short he doesnt think its DM, more a nerological problem such as the diques trapping a or sevral nevres in her spine. due to the fact he said she is a nice working dog shape *square* her ass isnt on the floor and she walks and jumps around like a nutter :san42:

next step is the MIR scan more X-rays of her spine and hips *which were both very good wen taken last yr*. he doesnt think she will need surgery ..YET but we cant rule it out. the MIR will cost about £1500 and poss surgery could bump that up a few more grand too!!

so we are sorting out the funds hes said to leave it a couple of months as shes quite fit and healthy and he feels very happy about that, but at any point she gets worse we are to ring them and sort something out.

well a least some good news fazza, but the bill is going to sting a bit

not insured couldnt find anyone to insure us as she is a working dog and high risk and i dont have my security dog cover ect anymore could cost any where up to five grand too :2431:

wont they let you pay monthly or weekly after shes had the surgery

at least then she can have her surgery

no will do we will know if she needs surgery after the scan ect she will prob have as soon as afterwards but hes thinking she may not at the mo so fingers crossed otherwise she has to have a big metal plate thinggy put in her spine
