excessive panting

ive been meaning to post about this for a while now.. but i keep forgetting....

im not sure if im being over cautious or not,or if im just being silly lol.... BUT...since fred was little i noticed he panted a lot, even if its not hot or if hes not recently been walked,and occasionally his breath is really hot... he stopped panting so much for a while and then he started to do it again, ive been watching other peoples dogs and ive noticed that they dont do it, although theyre not as large as fred... its playing on my mind so much now im obsessed with it lol.... my last dog boss never panted like fred does :2431:

can someone put my mind at rest lol...

are you sure Fred and Marley arent Brothers!!! Marley does this too and Ed and I have often commented on it, sometimes his breath is so hot you can see the "steam" coming from it.

fred sleeps in my room, and sometimes he is panting so loud i cant get to sleep..its quite disturbing

Not something I've ever experienced with my dogs. Maybe its the longer coat?

Maybe they just get warmer than some dogs. Maggie pants loads too, she looked as though she was dying of heat exhaustion today but wouldnt lie in the shade, she thinks shes a snake and basks

I would think the Mimi and Stan, having longer coats and being black would get hotter but she really feels it.

Saying that, thats just Mags but as as Bev said, the longer coat coupled with the darker colouring may make them a bit warmer. I wouldnt worry :love: :love:

blaze is the same specially when hes sittin infront ov us when we r eatin our dinner or when he sleeps

the one and only time Marley slept in our room he was on the edge of the bed the bed was shaking so much I thought I was going to fall out!!!......before any smutty comments are made Ed was on nights!!!!!! :2431:

maybe the panting is something to do with the longer coat and dark colouring,...but how does that theory apply in winter though

:2445: the long coat on gsd would not make it any warmer,most L/coats are missing under coat(hence the fault in breed)the long coat is finer.

Axle only needs to run lenght of garden and hes panting ,

u can always check his body temp if ur worried , i take it u know where to stick the thermometer :2431:
