| over the past few weeks my fish are slowly dying off... i have only one 1 balloon molly left out of 3... a little orange gourami has died.. i have 2 mollys left... my little baby molly died ... and now a snail has died...
im thinking im going to have to get my tank water tested.....
over time i have lost and replaced all of my fish except for 2 mollys and 2 fantails which have been in the tank from the onset..

| sorry so late Shelley busy trying to keep axle calm (xena ready to stand and hes doing cartwheels) :san42: Ok u done water change thats fine . this type of thing usually happens when fish have been overfed and it upsets balance of aquarium. Do u have a test kit (tetra used to do a topical one) about £30 this is deal to check water every couple of weeks (easy to do)and covers four or five tests it last a long time and u can by refills. I remember u saying u moved the tank were they dying before this or is this new.? Have u introduced any rocks drift wood etc since u moved it ? Have u feed live food from petshop? Has tia dropped anything in tank (strange smell perfume)someone put pernod in one of mine when sister had a party one night as uv changed the water do not add anymore fish take a sample of water to pet shop (if u dont have testkit)and let then do test for u if they say its ok u can add more fish. I would not feed for a couple of days it will do them no harm. When i used to go on holiday i would give them live feed before i went and they were not feed until i came back and the tank was always spotless as they survived of algae | |

| im thinking i may be over feeding them tbh....
actually i did add something new to the tank and then everything started dying, ive taken this out today!
im going to take a water sample to the store at the weekend..
i noticed when i cleaned everything in the tank there was black stuff round the filter and over the plastic plants.

| i would think its overfeeding to shelley tbh , i would not feed what u have remaining for a couple of days when ur feeding only give a small amount(what u can pinch between to fingers) the fish should be able to eat this before it hits bottom. Do not use the tablet food unless u have a few catfish in tank. the black stuff will prbablybe build up of rotten food which has basically piosoned the fish as filter was unable to cope with bacteria increase | |
