| Keira has started to struggle on her back legs recently About 3 months ago she caught her leg down a hole she limped for a day then seemed ok so i didnt take her to the vets A few weeks later she seemed to start limping a bit then she seemed to struggle when getting up The vet checked her over a month or so ago and said it was her hips and gave me the talk about gsd and hip problems etc etc and said that atm she wasnt too bad but we could look at meds if she got worse I didnt really think at the time it was her hips because she still races around the garden like a whippet but then she struggles again like she has ceased up Im in two minds about whether to go back to the vet and see what he says My brain tells me she may have damaged something when she caught her leg but the vet i saw is an orthopaedic specialist and he said it was definately her hips causing the problem and possibly arthritis im wondering whether an xray will confirm the problem but i hate the thought of my dogs being knocked out Ive found some tablets called luposan joint power im thinking of getting to see if they help has anybody tried these ive also bought her a memory foam bed that she loves | |

| Awww poor Marley How is he healthwise atm If i remember right hes about the same age as Keira is he about 9 Keira isnt too bad she just seems to have really stiff joints when she gets up i know the feeling im like that myself now Ive ordered the luposan so i will try her on that to see if it helps Where did you hear about easeflex Jude and do you need a prescription to buy them I just googled them and they sound like they have the same kind of ingredients as the luposan I'm hoping it helps her joints but if she doesnt seem to improve i will take her to the vets She doesnt seem to be in pain just a bit stiff now and again She still runs about like a puppy and over does it | |

| Marleys EPI is under control with the lypex and the nutrix food which is a blessing. Neil our vet put Marley on easeflex after his fall from the bridge. You can get them of the internet without prescription. I get Marleys from the vets as I can claim from the insurance but I also give them to Kala I get hers off the internet as they are half the price! Marley was 7 in October Bren hes a little younger than Keira | |

| If Luposan does not work you can try real "Grünlippenmuschelpulver", because in Luposan is only a little bit from that. I used it for Cary, but later she need more medicine with more from this ( sorry i only now the german word) " Grünlippenmuschelextrakt". There are also good painkillers you can buy by the vet. Fingers crossed | |

| Update on Keira She went into the vets yesterday and had a small lump removed from her leg that had come up in the last few weeks (nothing serious) so i had her hips xrayed at the same time She has arthritis not too bad in the right hip but there was quite alot of inflammation in the left one Shes on anti inflammatory meds and pain killers for three weeks to see if this improves the situation I still think she may have injured herself a while back and its never healed properly because she runs around like a loon She has the green lipped mussel Shelley it seems to help | |

| i would ask the vets to see if hydrotherapy will help it hun... as HD and arthritis often go hand in hand | |

| Third trip back to the vets today to get her stitches checked and the little sod has been nibbling them so not healed as well as expected She has had the elizabethan collar on most of the time but has managed to get it off a few times They have taken a few of them out as she's managed to burst them open and they aren't really holding that part of the wound closed anymore and its healing from the inside She's back again on Monday evening to hopefully get the rest out then i need to take her back in another few weeks about the arthritis Her leg does seem to be alot better since she has been on the meds so i'm hoping he sees an improvement | |
