PostSubject: Panosteitis   Panosteitis Icon_minitimeSun Sep 28, 2014 10:12 am

Indy our biggest dog has been diagnosed with Panosteitis, back in July she was put on tramadol & Metacam and a supplement. She was on tramadol for about a week and was slowly taken off metacam by reducing the medication.

Now it seems to be back, metacam has been upped to full dosage however i have said to the vet that i dont really want on her tramadol unless we really have to which is why atm shes on metacam only.

Has anyone else experienced this in their pup? Is there anything else i can perhaps give her rather than pumping her with meds? anything natural/herbal?

We try our best to allow her to get plenty of rest however having other dogs doesnt seem to help as they all just want to play. She only limps when walking, when she runs she is fine.

Many thanks for any help/advice in advance x

Indy has had x-rays, nothing was found by my vet,so they were sent to a specialist who picked up on it, i know its basically growing pains and vet has said she could be like it for another 12 months when she reaches maturity. She doesnt seem to be in any pain as you can rub her leg and all that and she doesnt flinch or anything. she runs with no problems, only when walking

I think Mickey had this not long after we got him if i remember right Panosteitis 300576 Cant remember what treatment he had Panosteitis 517699 I think it was just pain killers He has had xrays done on his legs in the past but i dont think he did for that Panosteitis 300576 my memory is terrible Panosteitis 658515
I just remember he kept limping and it was going from one leg to the other and he eventually grew out of it Panosteitis 910222 He definately didnt have it for long or i would have insisted on xrays so hopefully Indy will grow out of it quickly Panosteitis 910222
Is he a JRT Panosteitis 300576

Misty had a touch of limping as well, like Bren, I can't remember much and she grew out of it quickly, I bought a supplement from somewhere that my friend suggested, can't remember what though sorry.

She's doing fine Shelley, the vet is really happy with how she is healing too, she was a very good girl at her check up last night and stood still whilst she looked and also when she had her heart and lungs checked, she did the 'stand' really well Panosteitis 805515

We went costa coffee afterwards and the girl there gave her a nice yummy doggy biscuit to chomp on Panosteitis 910222
