Our Hospital had their very first innovative awards where members of staff were awarded for what they have brought to our Trust over the past year. Myself and some work friends nominated Mick our HSO for catering. He developed the picture menu for patients with Senile Dementia and Alzhiemers. His research found that patients with this couldnt relate to a normal menu or envisage what they were going to receive for their meals so their health suffered with lack of nutrition. Mick organised the picture menu books where every single iten on the menu was photographed and the patients can just look and point at what they fancy to eat. Its made such a huge difference to these patients. We were delighted that Mick got shortlisted! He had a table of his own and could invite 9 people to join him and I was very honoured to be asked as one of them.

It was a very posh do in a hotel Ladies in posh frocks and men in suits, Champagne reception and 3 course meal with wine and champagne, and live band after the awards.
