| These animals have been failed by both the RSPCA and Bury council Animal Welfare OfficerI received this information yesterday, another example of animals failed by the RSPCA. - Quote :
- Dear Sandra, (Bury council Animal Welfare Officer)
There are many dogs and puppies kept locked up in extreme conditions in the ramshackle tin huts on this eyesore of derelict land at the top of Brinks Lane Radcliffe Manchester, Jack the German Shepherd dog has been chained up outside in temperatures as low as minus 12 recently with only a bucket of ice where his water should be. Jack is constantly chained here for most of his life.
As you know I have been told the person doing this is selling these dogs and horses on for profit. Councilor Stuart Penketh also informs me he could see caged birds also inside one of these tin huts.
I am so sadly disappointed by the way the RSPCA have dealt with this recent complaint and it is not the first time I have heard about them failing to help animals. I have spoken to Nigel Yeo (RSPCA) on the telephone and although he promised to investigate and re-contact me he has failed to do so. here is the link there are photos http://www.germanshepherdrescue.freeforums.org/rspca-won-t-help-jack-and-puppies-either-t864.html
ANOTHER DOG THE RSPCA WON'T HELP This case was reported to us in June. Nobody will help this dog. The RSPCA think this is acceptable. The dog has been chained outside in all this bad weather, he can't reach hi kennel because the chain is too short. His drinking water is frozen over. The RSPCA have been out and aren't going to do anything. Young GSD permanently chained up This is what the lady that reported it said back in June: - Quote :
- There
is a German Shepherd across the road in an old farmyard chained up to a caravan for more than 12 hours a day, seven days a week. His owner lives in the caravan, but is out working all day. The dog gets very little, if any, exercise, and that exercise consists of chasing a stone kicked by his owner for about ten minutes. The chain is attached to the underside of the caravan and is not long enough for the dog to even get into his kennel, so if it rains he has to shelter under the caravan. It's all on concrete. His water bucket, more often than not, is full of algae. He is only about two years old and used to bark all night long, but seems much more subdued these days. I try to go and see him when I can, but can't take him off the chain nor walk him, and anyway he is too strong for me. He cries when his owner leaves him and when I leave him. He is a lovely dog and not, as the owner of the farm says, a dangerous dog; however, in time with boredom and loneliness and lack of exercise he will become a dangerous dog.
I have told the RSPCA about him, but they will not do anything. I just do not know what to do about him. He is not exactly ill-treated by his owner, who would not want to lose him, but the dog is leading such an awful life I feel there must be something that could be done to rescue him. If you have any suggestions or can do anything, then I would be very grateful.
update yesterday - Quote :
- Since
June things have deteriorated. This week, the owner hasn't even bothered to return some nights, the dog is lying on ice. An elderly lady nearby who is distraught by this, has been taking him water and food. Apparently the land owner where the caravan is parked, has a history of animal abuse. So much for the Animal Welfare Act The dog is in Somerset http://www.germanshepherdrescue.freeforums.org/another-dog-the-rspca-won-t-help-t833.html for god sake what is wrong with the rspca | |
