| So we are all here on the great medium of the internet and the strange thing is that a lot of us become good friends without ever hearing each others voices.. It often leaves me wondering how we all sound and what accents we have so... I thought.. yay let's make a topic..
I will start.. I am from Rhyl which is a small seaside town in the north east of Wales.. Err I think Shelley is the only person on here to hear my voice and most people expect me to have a Welsh accent being from Wales but I don't.. I have a totally English accent that could maybe be best described as having no regional twinge to it at all.. Think Carol Vorderman or Lisa Scott Lee from steps as they are both from the Rhyl area.. I will say for the record though that no... I don't have a camp, elaborate manner of speech and no I don't sound like a nerd :2431: :2445:
Oh and one more thing... Yes.. I did steal this topic from another forum :2431:

| I'm from Whitley Bay, 10 miles North of Newcastle and I'm not broad Geordie like my 2 sons are!!! Shelley is the only one on here to have heard my voice and my accent ( she didnt need the Geordie phrase book!! Lol)
I only very rare occassions come out with Ho'way the lads,( support for out local footie team) Toon Army!!! ( our local footie team Newcastle United) or y'all reet pet ( how are you feeling today) or aye am canny ta,( I'm feeling very well thank you) haddaway and shite (is that true ...really!!) or divent gi'us nen o' ya horse shite man (please dont lie)

| Don't worry guys.. I sprayed the thread with anti-psycho spray before posting so I think we will be ok :2431: :2445:
I may be from Rhyl but I have lived in my own little world for most of my adult life and luckily.. they had regular reading and writing lessons there.. :2445: We get the plastic scouser label as well.. When our local football team is playing.. we get some proper stick off the Welsh lads for being so anglo.. It's like we are stuck in the middle cus we still get the sheep shagger insults from the English but we get the piss ripped out of us by the Welsh as well for not sounding Welsh..
I think the Wallasey accent is quite nice actually... It's like a toned down version of Scouse so it retains the nice parts without the whole dirty element that so many scousers have.. My grandad was a Wallasey lad born and bred so I actually have some Wallasey blood in me..
lmao@Jude do you just break out into proper geordie every now and then when you least expect it?
@Farah Like I said.. I have got to hear your accent.. Are you gonna be posh for me or try and meet me half way and act like a bit of a chav.. :2445: Is it like.. an emmerdale accent? You say a lot of things in posts that make me think of lancashire.. Do you say Toffees instead of sweets by any chance?

| :2445: I bet that sounded so funny.. I love hearing people with different accents saying really regional stuff..
Ahh good point Kazza.. you would of heard my voice.. Actually... I am suprised you can hear anything other than Lei's voice for at least a few hours after talking to her :2445:
I did hear about that program but didn't actually see it.. It was pretty embarrassing by all accounts though.. There was a debate about it in our local paper that was actually pretty indicitave of the type of people that are running this town because half were saying.. "They shouldn't show the bad sides of the town" and the other half saying.. "They can show the bad sides of the town if it gets us money and attention".. Yet none of them saying.. "Wow we have those problems.. we need to sort it out and not blame someone else".. It used to be a brilliant place and don't get me wrong.. it is improving with a lot of investment.. but it still has major major problems.

| Well I am from Carmarthen, I don't have such an accent as others do from around here, in Wales most people think I am English, in England people either think I am from up north or from Wales, up North they know I am welsh so I ain't got much of a clue what I sound like, I seem to not belong anywhere :san56: | |
