One of these

http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/searchterm?searchTerm=comfy+collar

Ive just ordered one for Mickey because he is driving me mad constantly giving himself hotspots
hes got one on his back leg now that he can still reach when he has the elizabethan collar on
He definately hasnt got fleas but his skin is really dry and he is constantly itching   One minute he is fine the next he has a little chew then he just cant leave the spot alone    usually resulting in a hotspot unless i get the collar on him pronto
He makes matters worse because he hates being groomed and his long fur on his back end gets matted up  Ive trimmed alot of the really long fur but he really needs a good rake through
Trouble is he lets me get a few tangles out then he starts the growling and keeps sitting down so you cant get to his back end    Hes a little swine
Just wondered if these different types of collar are any good   and any ideas on detangle brushes

I know the furminater is supposed to be good but my problem is as soon as i go to brush him he growls and runs off or keeps sitting or turning so i cant brush him properly
He really is a pain in the arse   im ashamed to take him anywhere when he gets his knotted fur  ive got more brushes and combs then pah but still cant get him looking nice
Ive tried to get him into a few groomers but they dont want to know because he isnt happy about being groomed
He could do with a good bath then conditioner to try get the knots out but im not gonna bath him in the cold weather
Btw the collar hasnt made any difference he can still reach the spot on his leg
He was up licking and pacing all bloody night last night so tonight he will have both on the cone and the collar to see if that stops him
I never have any of this hassle with Keira

Just been and looked and Ive already got one of those Shelley
I think ive blunt all the razers the amount ive used it
Its good on little matts but harder to use on clumps which is what happens with Mickeys hair
It would be fine if he would just let me give him a good brush but hes a little s**t
and to make matters worse he loves sitting outside usually in amongst all the wood chippings and leaves that get into his coat     His favourite pastime on a walk is brushing up against those horrible plants with the little spikey balls  he just doesnt make it easy for me
I dont think i would ever have another long coat

when i got purry i went out and bought a pair of grooming scissors as shes prone to geting loads of huge clumps.... and with her not used to being groomed i needed something sharp and quick ... they were fab, she doesnt even know im doing it lol!!

i know what youre saying though hun....long hair is no fun!! bellas always got knots and clumps

Both dogs have now had a bath  and i put some conditioner on Mickeys back end to try and sort out his dry coat
The vet suggested his itchiness may be because we have started to put the heating on and he gets hot   He does definately suffer when he gets too hot and he loves sitting out in the garden
He would happily be an outdoor dog
He even sat out there earlier tonight    on his lunge line    We have to put him on that because hes sitting outside in the dark so we cant see what hes up to
Keira is moulting like mad it looked like a small animal had been slaughtered in the garden earlier all the fur lying about
