We finally got into our new house on Wednesday but
what a shock we had
My solicitor rang to say the money had been received by the vendors solicitor at 11am which meant the house was then ours
I wasnt
expecting the estate agent to call me because they have been absolutely s**t all the way through this sale so by 12 i rang them to be told they knew the money had gone through but they couldnt get hold of the owner to get the keys for us
As our furniture wasnt being delivered i said id just go round and get the keys direct at about 2pm so they could have a few more hours to move out
At 2pm we went round and i couldnt believe it
the house was still half full
not with the big furniture thank god but with loads of other stuff
all the kitchen cupboards were still full, the bathroom toiletries were all still there every room had bags and bags of stuff pictures were all still hanging up the washing machine was still plumbed in two massive wardrobes were still there
but the owner was nowhere to be seen
her friend was there instead standing around not doing much
i explained who i was so she said she would try phone the owner but wasnt sure if she could get through so i basically told her i was coming in anyway as the house was legally mine
I then had a good look round and was totally gob smacked
there were four sheds all full to the brim a full garage and atleast a large skip load of cut down trees in the front garden
When i say full i do mean full
this family must have been hoarding stuff for years
The friend put the owner on the phone and she said she would be up in her car to get the last few things
i had to tell her there was no way she was leaving all the stuff in the sheds nearly all of it was soaking wet and mouldy as all the sheds had leaks There were kids toys wellies socks shoes etc strewn all over the garden i picked up about 15 balls
a rusty 15ft trampoline a punchbag tied to the tree you name it it was in that garden
I dont know how i managed it but i kept my cool and when the owner eventually came back about 4pm i told her to remove everything from the house but i wanted her to come back Friday to get the contents of the sheds garage and the garden rubbish
I couldnt do Thursday as i had a hospital appointment in Liverpool
While waiting id gathered all the remaining stuff and put it all in the dining room to make it quicker for them to take
She wanted to leave the washing machine but i got oh to disconnect it and her removal guys did eventually take it
I decided id keep the wardrobes
It still took another 2 hours to get the rest of the stuff out but eventually i did get the keys I suggested that it would be easier if she came and got what she wanted on Friday then paid for a skip and we would chuck the rest
so at 8.30 this morning a skip was delivered and the driver was banging on the door asking for payment
i explained the situation and said there was no way i was paying as i hadnt ordered it and he would have to get his boss to call the other woman To be fair they had arranged the skip for 9am and arrived at that time to pay for it
It took from 9am until 4pm to empty everything and the skip was overflowing I was actually worried they would refuse to take it that full but they did
Everything has gone except for about half a skips worth of tree cuttings but ive told her we will sort that out We will need to get a skip anyway because the sheds need to be taken down and chucked before they fall down i think the crap in them was holding them up
I did feel sorry for her as she has not long lost her husband and i offered to help but she insisted that they did it themselves I did get oh to chuck some of the heavier stuff in the skip before he went to work
She actually said it was therapeutic for her and found a few sentimental items
We also took some of her sentimental plaques and ornaments off the house for her
The 15ft trampoline is still on the drive It was too big to go in the van and too rusty to unscrew so they are going to come up over the weekend and carry it away
If i ever mention about moving again can someone please CERTIFY ME!
Oh and to top it off we have no furniture until Monday so are sleeping on a £10 blow up bed that slowly deflates during the night
so a bad back and no sleep aswell
for the essay bet you all gave up reading half way through
